Tatranská Štrba is a Tatran settlement 900 m above sea level. Its history began as early as in 1880, but the impulse for the great development and transformation of the settlement into a new tourist trade centre on the Tatra foothills was given by the World Skiing Championships in 1970. In a relatively short time, it was built into a modern municipality with a housing project, hotels and motor camping and chalet areas.
The Bratislava-Košice railway line with an express stop crosses the outskirts of the municipality. The municipality is made accessible by a motorway connection directly from the D1 motorway. A cog-railway line leads from the railway station directly to the Štrbské Pleso tourist centre.
WOODSTONE RESIDENCES are located in the vicinity of the most sought-after winter sports and summer tourism centres. The surrounding areas also offer many historical monuments and other tourist attractions. The best-known and highest-situated High Tatras – Štrbské Pleso (1,355 m above sea-level) recreation centre is only 10 km away from WOODSTONE RESIDENCES. In the summer season, it is a sought-after resort for high-mountain tours of varying difficulty, mountain-climber ascents and various trips. With the well-known Tatran tram you can get to all the Tatran settlements (Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica) from Štrbské Pleso. Several ski centres such as Areál snov in Štrbské Pleso, Lopušná dolina, Liptovská Teplička and Jasná in the Low Tatras are accessible in the winter season. The AquaCity Poprad and Tatralandia Liptovský Mikuláš swimming pools with all-year operation are accessible in the summer season. Golf lovers can play on new golf courses at the Black Stork resort in Veľka Lomnice.
